GENERAL MATH
General math offers students individualized learning in areas they need strengthing. This includes basic arithmetic, fractions, simple equations, ratios, probability, and some basic geometry. The purpose of this course is to prepare a student for success in basic algebra courses and/or in consumer's math.

CONSUMERS MATH
This is a personal finance class that is a combination of current events, economics, and the application of mathematics. The focus of the class is to get the student ready to handle and become familiar with everyday mathematics along with its application to a variety of topics. Everyday banking, all aspects of housing (rent, utilities, buying homes, etc.), income tax, insurance, car purchases, credit history and budgeting are some of the topics covered. Another components that is interjected is a section on career education in which students pick a vocation and do a shadowing exercise (follow an employee in their chosen field) to help them see what the real world is like.

ALGEBRA I
This introductory course exposes students to a variety of topics that will be further studied in a later and more advanced algebra course involving trigonometry. At the conclusion of the course, students will be able to handle work with all real numbers, basic story problems involving one and two variables, laws of exponents, factoring polynomials, linear equations with graphing, quadratic equations involving graphing, and systems of equations.

GEOMETRY
Geometry includes each grade level (9-12). The study of geometry has to do with the relationships between points, lines, and lanes in space. Special emphasis is placed on the importance of proof using deductive reasoning and the student gains a better understanding of the reasoning process which is helpful in all subject areas. Some areas of study are: parallel lines, congruent triangles, and similarity of polygons, right triangle geometry, circles, coordinate geometry, and transformations.

ALGEBRA II
In Algebra II we have students from grades 10-12. Algebra II is a continuation of the topics in Algebra I. We continue our study of how to solve first and second degree equations and inequalities, including systems in more than one variable. Movement is made to look at equations of higher order. We begin a more in depth study of analytic geometry and finish with logarithmic fractions.

MATH ANALYSIS
Students are usually in grades 11-12. Math analysis continues the work in analytic geometry. We also spend close to a semester in trigonometry topics, statistics and probability, and matrices. During the second semester, we introduce some of the basic ideas of calculus.

AP CALCULUS
This is a class for the Accelerated group of seniors. Calculus is the mathematics of motion and change. We study differential calculus, which deals with finding rates of change and integral calculus, which deals with finding a function from information about its rate of change. Upon completion of this course students are given the opportunity to receive a college credit by taking the AP Calculus exam.
